We unintentionally matched for church! I was getting ready while Shaun went to help Maisey. She walked into my room to get her hair done and had a striped dress, brown belt, and brown boots. When she saw my necklace she ran back in for hers! Love my two mini-mes!
Gage gave his first ever primary talk. Unfortunately I forgot about it until we were sitting in Sacrament meeting and he whispered excitedly to me, "Hey Mom! Today is my talk!" Eek! Luckily he was assigned a very similar topic Maisey was last year, so we ran home, collected a few pictures, and wrote a few thoughts down. It was about resurrection so we talked about Jesus and Papa who lives in heaven! He did such a great job and was very proud of himself!
Should I be concerned that this is Miley's favorite YouTube video? I type Elmo in for her and she scrolls down the page until she finds this one. . . every time!
That's some pretty sweet bed head!
We had a bit of a St. Patrick's Day fail this year. Maisey woke up and came to my room in tears because the leprechaun didn't leave a note or any gold this year. Uh. . . Ooops! I forgot he even came last year. I guess I should be more intentional with what traditions I do and do not want to start.
Gage was in major meltdown mode that morning. He didn't want to get dressed or go to school! But I bribed him with this necklace which did the trick for about 10 minutes until it was actually time to go. I carried him to the car, literally kicking and screaming! It was a rough morning!
Once the big kids were at school Miley and I set off on a hunt for outrageously priced gold from the chocolate store at the outlets! When Maisey came home from school she found this note taped to the door. I guess the leprechaun didn't forget about her after all!
They ended up finding their bags of gold in their jammie drawers because they listened to their parents when they told them it was time to get ready for bed!
We also had the missionaries over for dinner on St. Patrick's Day. I made our usual meal, corned beef, cabbage and other veggies, green corn bread muffins, shamrock shaped jell-o jigglers, and green lemonade. They didn't seem to appreciate it much which kind of bugged me. Then when it was time for dessert I pulled out mint chocolate chip ice cream to have with our brownies and the ice cream wasn't even green!!!!
At that point I was ready to through in the towel! Oh well!
Target slushies are sometimes a must to get through a shopping trip!
Maisey went to a cooking class and made some fun things!
She was so proud of what she made.
Gage's school had a field trip to the local yogurt shop!
Miley and I tagged along of course! Who doesn't love yogurt before lunch?
I went down to my mom's one night to help her clean for my sister to come visit. She asked me to dust her living room. I didn't think much of it until I got to the piano and remembered this used to be my childhood chore. I seriously stood still for several minutes just reminiscing about Saturday chores and bribing my sisters and really just about my wonderful childhood in general. The only living room furniture that is the same is this piano and now it is home to pictures of my sweet kids and their cousins. Funny how a piano can trigger such fun memories! Don't tell my mom how much I enjoyed it!
Some days call for a bowl of ice cream before 10 am!
Gage helped me fill out my bracket! We rolled the dice for every game in the bracket. If it was 1-3 then we chose the top team, 4-6 the bottom team. We filled the whole thing out like that and he picked some of the big upsets like Mercer beating Duke, and Dayton beating Ohio State! It will be fun to see how it all plays out!
We went to Grammy's school for lunch and brought her some flowers.
Why do babies hate car washes?
We usually do a family movie night once a week, but always on the weekend. This week we had an impromptu one on a Thursday night. Maisey found out at school that day that her teacher who is on maternity leave right now will not be coming back for the rest of the year. :( She came home from school bawling. To take her mind off of it we ordered pizza, had a picnic and watched Frozen! It only worked for a bit though, because at bed time she got really upset again and ended up crying herself to sleep that night. She feels really let down. She even said she wants to do first grade over again next year, with the same teacher all year and not three different ones. Sad!
We ended the week with Maisey's school field trip. It was at a very organic (when I say organic, I mean goose poop EVERYWHERE!) farm and it was definitely an interesting field trip. Not one I'd ever really want to go on again!
But I did get a smile out of her, so that makes it worth it!
