Memorial Day

Usually we spend Memorial Day doing yard work! But this year, it was raining, so we spent it having fun instead!!!

We started the day at Inflatable Kingdom. This was Miley's first time going down huge slides and bouncing around. Let's just say she cried anytime we stopped or had to wait in line to go down a slide. She L.O.V.E.D. it!!! The other kids had a blast too! (Oh, and a side note, Shaun and I competed against each other in one of those arcade basketball game things, and I whomped him, 81-29!)

Then we headed to lunch at Burgerville! We made the kids eat a hamburger (instead of chicken nuggets) and it turns out everyone likes them! We may have told them it is like eating meatloaf on a bun. What ever works, right?

During quiet time I took Maisey to get her hair cut. I asked for an A-line cut that started a little below her chin and we ended up with a bob that started above her chin. Oh well, it grows fast! We stopped at the store on the way home to buy some cute little clips to sass it up with!

We went to an indoor BBQ (remember, it was raining!) that our friends organized. We had fun visiting with everyone and eating while the kids ran around!

For FHE that night we made "The Grimmett's Summer List" with all of the fun things we want to do this summer. I think we can get to all of them. I'll have to report back at the end of the summer!

Maisey's Jog-a-thon and Music Concert

Last week was a busy week for Maisey at school.

First, she ran in her jog-a-thon!
Her and a friend ran the whole thing holding hands. It was really cute! They ran 10 laps, Way to go! She helped raise $75 for her school. Thank you to all of her family who supported her!

Then she sang in her school's Spring Music Concert! She sounded beautiful!

Her fan club came to support her!
(And apparently Gage was too cool to sit with the fam. It's starting already. . . )

And no performance is complete without a trip to Lime Berry to celebrate! A couple of Maisey's friends from her class had the same idea. They girls had fun sitting together and giggling!

We are so proud of Maisey and her hard work at school this year!

Random Phone Pics

Does anyone else take this many pics of their kids sleeping? They always just look so cute!

This isn't a kid sleeping, but Gage put this baby to bed in her cradle (a cubby in the headboard of his bed). Miley got this doll for her birthday but somehow it has become Gage's. He even took it with his to Miley's check-up the other day so his baby could have a check-up too!

Gage rode with my mom and I to go pick up our van from the shop and within minutes he was sleeping. I guess he couldn't handle the girl talk!

Look at this handsome dude!
This was his picture for his preschool gift for his teacher.

Playing memory with a kid who is obsessed with "eeny, meeny, miney, mo" is really long, and annoying. Am I a bad mom for saying that?

Miley has discovered how to make a million messes in 2 seconds flat! I put her in the exersaucer so I could clean up the mess behind her with out her following me around and dumping out everything I had just put away. Sometimes confinement is a good thing, right?

The five minutes all week that these two actually got along. I had to capture it.
P.S. They have been fighting like crazy. Anyone have tips on sibling love?

Storytime cuddles at the library!

Yes, the wagon is bungee-corded to his bike.
Creative or Lazy? You decide!

"La-la-la-la-la, I can't hear you!"

Play-date fun. Making pizzas and playing memory!
We're going to be doing lots of play-dates this summer. Anyone want to come?

The kids love getting mail, and Aunt Janel is awesome at sending them postcards! This time all three of them got their own. Kid heaven!

End of Preschool

Gage's last day of preschool was last Friday. It was really sad to think that our kids will never be taught by Teacher Angela again. :( Maisey and Gage have learned so much during their years at her preschool.

We ended the year with a family picnic and the preschool kids sang two songs.

Photos:
#1 - The preschool kids are singing I'm Going on a Bear Hunt
#2 - The "preschool stars" made a cute little card for Teacher Angela and gave her some movie tickets and candy!
#3 - Gage is showing off his fuzzy little tail from the Bear Hunt song.
#4 - Gage is singing A Tooty Ta with his elbows back, and tongue out

We are really going to miss all of the fun things about this preschool!

Keizer Iris Parade

We went to the Keizer Iris Parade a couple of Saturdays ago, even with the threat of rain. We were lucky that it held off on us and we were able to enjoy the morning as a family. Not more than 30 minutes after the parade finished it started pouring!!!

Everyone had such a great time, especially when Ronald McDonald looked directly at the kids and waved. They were so giddy! Miley soaked the whole thing in. She didn't cry at all, even with the loud sirens at the beginning.

The kids waved to every.single.participant in the parade. And they loved gathering all of the candy that was thrown their way.

I've got a nice looking clown crew!

Shower or Not to Shower: Part 2

I guess this is what I get for actually taking time to shave my legs, put on make up, and touch up my eyebrows, you know not the everyday luxuries!

A half eaten bag of wheat thins. . .

 and SIX cheese stick wrappers!

This kid is going to make me go crazy!!!

Shower or Not to Shower: That is the Question

This is what happens when you shower and leave your 4 year old in charge of the baby!

Some Friday Afternoon Excitement

Maisey had some friends come home with her after school today for a play date. The girls' moms were coming around 3:30 to pick them up. I was kind of watching out the window and saw a motorcycle cop at the end of our cul-de-sac and saw my neighbor outside so I went out to see what was going on.

This is what I saw!

A mustang, driven by an 18 year old kid, was speeding through the neighborhood and hit a school bus with 40 kids on board!

This was the car, OUCH! Air bags deployed and all!

So once the girls' moms came (they had to park down the street and walk to our house to get them), we walked down to the corner and watched the scene unfold. . . for 2 hours!

Gage's favorite part was the giant tow truck (used to tow the bus away!)

And the news helicopters

The news is reporting 6 students with injuries, one which was transported to the hospital. I only saw 4 girls sitting on the curb while all of the other kids stayed on the bus. One of the girls on the curb is a student at Maisey's school. The second grade teacher and the intervention specialist came to be with her until her family could get there.

By Gage's request, we stayed until the bus got towed away.

A close up of the bus

Then we had news crews on our street through the evening.

This is a picture of about half the length of the skid marks. The news reported they were 100 ft. long. He must have been going F.A.S.T.!!!

That was our crazy Friday afternoon!

Random Phone Pics

He is the cookie monster at our house, and the biggest food sneak! In that second pic that is a WHOLE box of Vanilla Wafers. :(

Miley and her morning banana. It's bigger than her head!

They both loved the fish in the doctor's waiting room.

He's my little photographer. He takes a million pics on my phone and any time he can get his paws on my real camera he will!

Gage and I were watering the garden while Miley was swinging. I ran inside for a minute and came back out to find Gage about 6 inches from Miley's face with the hose on. :( I then took the hose and sprayed him in the face and asked if he liked it. He said, "YES mom!!!" while giggling. Of course!

So the clothes came off and our garden watering turned into an impromptu sprinkler day!

This girl is speedy quick and learns new things everyday, like how to get into the fridge and how to open the screen door! We're in trouble!

Gage got his hair "cut" by his dad!! I may have cried a little. Good thing it grows fast!

Father/Son Camp out

Last weekend my boys went on the father/son camp out. They had a great time playing in the dirt and sitting around the fire. They brought Maisey's bottom bunk mattress and slept in the back of the van.

In the meantime, the girls and I enjoyed ice cream, a movie night, and our nice warm beds!

Miley's Birthday Celebration

We celebrated Miley's birthday on Saturday because Daddy had to go out of town Sunday morning. We got the party started with a fun family swim outing!

Maisey was even brave enough to go off the diving board!!!

This girl was totally in her element. She loved the wave pool and would squeal in anticipation of each wave. It was fun to see her so happy!

After swimming we headed home to open her birthday gifts!

Gage gave her a pillow pet, Maisey gave her an Abby Cadabby plate, cup, and bowl, and a book. Grammy gave her a doll house (a big hit!!) and Mommy and Daddy gave her a water table, a beach towel and pool toy, a bubble machine, and some clothes! She loved eating the wrapping paper while her siblings "helped" her open her gifts!

Then we had have a BBQ with Miley's little friend and his family!

 Fun with the water table

Then we broke out the cake!

She cried when we sang to her, but had fun with the cake once all of the attention was off of her!

And she happily shared with her friends and siblings!

We had such a fun day celebrating our little Miley!

And to top it off,
she was on the news the next morning!!!
