Valentine's Day: Massages and Monster Trucks

Our Valentine's started on Thursday afternoon, writing on all of the Valentines. Gage was funny because he put all of the different trains in piles and carefully selected which classmate got which train. I didn't think he would be so particular about his Valentines.

On Valentine's morning, the big kids woke up to monster trucks and tickets to the Monster Truck Show the next day. They also got a few little goodies and some cards from each other in their mailboxes.

Miley got lots of coloring things and a new doll house book to keep her busy with the baby sitter while we all went to the monster truck show. It's hard being a baby.

Valentine outfits:

She was being a little stinker and this was the best pic I could get of her.

That afternoon, I went into Maisey's class for her party.
 We brought heart fruit kabobs

and some heart cheese with crackers.

I love helping in Maisey's class. I love getting to know the kids so well, I love making them feel special, and I love that they make me feel happy! :)

Maisey's checking out her Valentine cards from her friends!

Grammy came over after school to babysit so Shaun and I could go out. It had been waaaaaay too long since we've gone out just the two of us!

Shaun booked a couples massage, which was wonderful!

And was complete with a box of chocolates from the spa!

We folllowed it up with dinner and then some shopping.
And just a note: if you go bra shopping on Valentine's day, you WILL run into someone you know while your husband is holding ten potential bras for you. You will sit and talk to them for a while, and then be completely embarrassed every time you think of the situation. Just saying!

On to the next day: The Monster Truck Show!!!!!

These are most of the trucks that competed. Max D won the freestyle portion.

Grave Digger won the race portion during the first half.

The kids' favorite truck was Iron Man.

On the way home we drove through some freak rain storm that was so scary. But once we got through it we saw these beautiful rainbows!

The perfect end to a perfect Valentine's weekend!

Let it Snow!

The weather man promised snow last Thursday, and we waited and we waited and we waited for it to come.

I helped Maisey pick out some warm clothes to wear to school that day and sent her with gloves so she could build a snowman at recess.

At lunch time there was no snow. Shaun still came home from work early because the weatherman suggested it.
Gage was too excited to have a quiet time that day so we snuggled on the couch all afternoon waiting for it to come.

By the time Miley woke up and Maisey got home from school it was starting! This babe didn't leave the window for an hour! She was mesmerized!

When Dad finished up some work, we got everyone bundled up and headed outside to play.

She was wild woman on the power wheel. Mostly because she couldn't see where she was going and would just go right off the curb!

We broke out the sled and Daddy pushed them down the driveway.
(The only time I've ever been grateful for our steep driveway, we didn't have to drive to a snow hill!)

Daddy was showing off and went down on his feet!

Gage enjoyed a sled ride from Dad around the neighborhood.

The first day, then snow was so dry and powdery, you couldn't even make a snow ball. But we sure tried!

These were Miley's defense in our attempted snow ball fight!

My Angel!

Neighborhood snow ball fight!

We spent most of the weekend in our jammies, cuddled around the heaters.

Or watching the Olympics snuggled up in blankets.

We played way to many phones, tablets, and watched way too much TV!

Even this babe became an addict!

On Friday school was cancelled. I picked my mom up (she didn't want to drive) and brought her back up to our house for the day. I told her I would do her taxes if she would entertain my kids! She thought she was getting the better end of the deal, and so did I! Win-Win!!!

The snow kept coming down all day and I decided in the afternoon I better take her home before it got much worse.
I backed out of the driveway, slid sideways, and was inches from hitting Shaun's car. Shaun came out, pulled it back in the garage, and Grammy had an unexpected sleepover on Maisey's bottom bunk that night!

Miley wasn't so sure about being the third member of this bobsled team!

My all time favorite picture from the whole snowy weekend! Love these two ladies!

By mid-day Friday we had 6 inches! By the end, that same spot measured 8.5 inches!

Day 3 of this snowy weather, I was starting to wonder what we had originally gotten so excited about!! This momma likes to be on the go, and not cooped up in the house for days!

By Saturday afternoon, it had rained a little bit, so you could make snowballs, and snowmen! This was Maisey's princess snowman!

Gage was invited to a birthday party and really wanted to go.

So Shaun walked him a half mile to the party, carrying Gage on his shoulders most of the way!

Miley and I were kind of over the snow at this point and opted to hang out inside on Saturday. Anyone up for a game of Duck Duck Goose with the farm animals?

By Sunday, I was feeling very done and very unproductive from sitting around all weekend. Church was cancelled, so I used the time to clean out Gage and Miley's closets and dressers and switch out clothes. That seriously took me ALL day!
The kids liked playing in the empty boxes!

School was cancelled again on Monday, but really it shouldn't have been. By Tuesday, I was so ready to get back to our normal routine, but, oh wait!! It was a no school/teacher work day so we were all home again! Luckily we had some friends come and play to help break up the day a bit!

The
were definitely ready to get back to our normal lives, but the snow was sure pretty while it was here!

February So Far

Gage is obsessed with babies. When he plays Life of the tablet, he always comes running to me when he gets one. And if he gets twins, EVEN BETTER!!!!! Too bad he isn't getting one of his own, so he can borrow one from church! :)

We got two copies of my magazine in the mail, and I thought it was hilarious when I caught them each reading their own copy!

Gage was chosen to be the "reverent child" at the beginning of Primary, and he took his job very seriously!

We went out to Grammy's school for lunch and it started snowing. We were supposed to get a snow storm later on in the week, so this caught me off guard. The kids loved it and Miley refused to cross the street with us. She just kept squeeling in delight as the flakes landed on her lashes!

It was really coming down, but it never stuck!

Gage had another sick day! 104* temps, achy and tired! I can't wait for all of this sickness to go away!

I ran over a screw. :(

Valentine holders for art in Maisey's class!

Maisey's "love bug" turned out so cute!

We made banana muffins!

My sister sent this to me and it is totally me!

We watched the Olympics, including the opening ceremonies where one of the snowflakes didn't open! Way to go Sochi!

And then Miley started with what Gage had.
Story of our lives lately!

I secretly love the cuddle time when she's sick!

We got the pay out from our major Super Bowl win!

Take that Pinterest! Finally something turned out just as cute when I did it!
Gage's Preschool Snack after our big snow storm.

And that's what I get for even thinking I can compete with those on Pinterst! Luckily some of the kids in Gage's class were sick that day and we still had enough!

Gage got a hair cut at a regular place and not a kid salon. He did awesome and the lady said he was the best 4 year-old to ever sit in her chair! That makes a mama proud!

We went to Grammy's school music program! The kids loved singing along.

And Grammy loved having them there!

Maisey is still playing basketball. . . a few more weeks!

There was no school today so we headed to Grammy's church building to play for a bit. The kids loved the stage and mostly did puppet shows with Maisey's American Girl dolls. It was refreshing to see them actually playing nicely together and being creative.
