Week 2: Extended Family Pics and Picnic

A lot of my mom's family all got together Thursday for a fun picnic at a splash park in St. George. But first, it was picture time!

Grandma Moore's grandkids and great grandkids!

The whole group!

Again!
Great Grandkids

Our fam!
I love this pic! My kids are totally cheesin' it up because I told them they could ride the carousel right after!

Us!!
Love, Love, Love this!

Maisey found a way to entertain herself while waiting for her turn for pictures!

After pics, we took them on a quick carousel ride, ate dinner with the fam, and then they were off to play in the splash park!

I was a little tempted to throw her a bar of soap and count this as her shower for the night!

Week 2: Tuacahn's The Little Mermaid

Tuacahn is an outdoor theater in St. George that is surrounded by beautiful redrock. This summer they are featuring The Little Mermaid. Boy, were Maisey and Shayla excited to see it!

We made a girls night out of it and left the little brothers at home with the Daddies.

Me, Kelsey, and Maisey

Christina, Grammy, and Shayla

We decided to take the girls to the dinner before hand! They got to eat Ariel's chicken tenders, french fries, mac n' cheese, and ice cream!

Look at those excited eyes!!!

Can't wait for it to start!

We brought Sue along with us too! She is always sooo much fun and fits right in with our group!

Once the show started you weren't allowed to take pictures, but I snapped this one on my phone real quick. She was so mesmerized by it all and on the edge of her seat, litterally! She was so fun to watch!

And then, it started raining. At first it was just a little so the show was on rain delay for about 10 min. It let up so they started it again, and within 30 seconds of the show starting, it started pouring again!!!
The girls were safe under Shayla's new beach towel that she just got at the gift shop just hours before!

I was not so safe. I was wearing a white skirt, which soon became see through because it was raining so bad!

After about 20 minutes, the storm passed, and the show resumed! We made it all the way through! Yay!!

After the show, we were getting ready to head to the car, when we saw Flounder come out. There was a huge long line waiting to see him and take pictures, and so we decided to just keep walking. I didn't think Maisey would actually take a picture with him anyway. But then, seconds later, Ariel and Prince Eric came walking out. I grabbed my camera and took a few pics of them by themselves, and before I knew it, Maisey (my child who is deathly afraid of costumed people) ran under the ropes and cut in front of hundreds of people in line and went right up to Ariel! I was SHOCKED! I hurried and took a picture and then Christina quickly pushed Shayla under the ropes too so we got one of both of them together! With in seconds a Tuacahn worker came over and sternly told us that the line started waaaaay over there. We apologized, gathered the girls, and headed to our car, avoiding the two hour long line!

I wish I would have realized that Maisey was still wearing Kelsey's coat from when it was raining. I would have taken it off if I had a second, but it all happened so fast! Even writing about it now, I am still sooooo surprised she did that!

Week 2: Swimming at the Condo

My boys are so cute! :)
Oh, and Gage was a MANIAC in the pool! He would get out of the baby pool and run to the big pool and would jump in, even if no one was there to catch him. He scared me so bad! We taught him to call for Daddy, then count to 3 before jumping. This helped a little, but someone had to have an eye on him at ALL times!

A floatie train with all of the kids!

When the kids were entertaining themselves in the baby pool, the adults had some fun! We all took turns jumping in the pool on this half-deflated shark. The winner was the person who could stay afloat the longest on it.

Week 2: 4th of July

We started the 4th of July at 4:30 am. Shaun and I woke up and packed up the car so we could leave at 5:30 am. We headed to Provo to take part in the Freedom Run! Months ago, our whole family decided to sign up for a 5k! It was awesome to watch everyone achieve their goals. Some had to work really hard at it, and others, not so much!

Pre-Race! Those kids were so tired. They didn't even make it to mile 1 before they were both out!

Post-Race! I stuck by my mom the whole time while pushing the kids in the stroller. I am seriously so proud of her for not only finishing the race, but for running the WHOLE thing! She totally rocked it!

And Shaun, I'm also WAY proud of him! He didn't train at all! He hasn't ran since last year when I would drag him along on my 1/2 marathon training runs! He finished right around 24 min. Way to go!!!

The whole group!!! 7 finishers + 2 kiddos!!!

Right after the race, we hurried over to the Freedom Festival Parade. This parade has over 300,000 spectators. Thanks Sue for saving seats for us!

Maisey loves a good parade!

And Gagey loves his Grammy!

Our family + Max!

Shaun's favorite part of the parade - the fly over!

Maisey's favorite float in the parade - Tuacahn's The Little Mermaid Float

Gagey liked seeing Scooby Doo

and Star Wars
(and Daddy didn't mind this one too!)

After the parade, we started our drive down to St. George where we would be spending the rest of the week! We checked into our condo then headed over the Grandma Moore's house for some sparklers and then to watch the firework show from her balcony.

I was surprised how much my kids enjoyed the sparklers!

She is pretending her sparkler is wand from Harry Potter
(Dad listened to a Harry Potter book on CD during the drive to keep him awake.)

Thanks Grandma for the sparklers!

I remember as a girl watching fireworks from Grandma's balcony, so it was fun sharing that memory with my own kids! We saw the hill catch on fire, and everyone thought that was pretty cool! It was only a precusor to what was to come!

Stay tuned!

Week 2: Midway

We spent a couple of nights in Midway, UT. Kate, Blair, and Brock came up to hang with us and we were going to have a bonfire. It was pretty windy so we decided to stay in.

We improvised by roasting marshmallows over the barbecue! The kids still thought it was fun, and apparently the big boys did too!
