9/28-10/4 - School Family Night and Sickies

SUNDAY:

Maisey was assigned a primary talk on how living the gospel can bring blessings to your life. Unfortunately, Mom totally forgot about it until about 5 minutes before. I pulled out my lesson manual and found a story for her to read! She rocked it, not surprised! But I did feel bad!

When the young men knocked on our door to collect fast offerings, this business card was stuck to our door. It was kind of embarrassing, the ym probably went home and told their parents a police officer's card was on the Grimmett's door. :/ When Shaun got home from meetings I made him call. He just wanted to inform us that our neighbors were in violation of a city code and he had talked to them about it. He told us to call him back if they hadn't made improvements in the next few weeks. Glad it wasn't anything to do with us!

Shaun and I worked on putting together a playlist for the jog-a-thon. We spent hours looking up kid friendly songs that were also upbeat. We looked up other playlists, watched videos, and read lyrics to hopefully come up with something the principal would approve. Our kids really enjoyed the looooong dance party!

MONDAY:

I had been watching the weather closely lately. We scheduled our first family night for Friday and when I saw this forecast I texted it to the other board members! Exciting!!!

Miley was invited to a birthday party that afternoon and since Gage has 1/2 day kindergarten, he came too. He was the oldest kid there and suuuuper naughty!! However, he did master the monkey bars that afternoon.

Maisey had the lesson for FHE tonight. She used Gage as her helper and did the story of the testimony glove.

TUESDAY:
This lunch was brought to you by Costco!
(We were running late, this is not an every day occurrence!)

WEDNESDAY:
Since the beginning of the school year Gage has been writing his name on his papers in all capital letters. I told him if he brought home 10 papers with his name written the right way I would take him to ice cream! In two days he brought home 10 papers, so after soccer practice the whole family headed to ice cream!

Miley wasn't complaining much!

THURSDAY:
Miley begged to wear her Christmas jammies last night! 85 more days until Christmas!

I took Miley to the mall with me that morning, and I could tell she wasn't feeling well since she fell asleep in the stroller. That NEVER happens. Sure enough, when I got home she had a high fever. :(  This was only the beginning.

I made 154 mini cupcakes for our family night the next night!

FRIDAY:

Maisey woke up in the middle of the night and was wheezing and could barely breathe. It was pretty scary. She also had a high fever and a sore throat so she stayed home from school. Shaun worked from home this day since both girls were sick and I was teaching art all day at the school.

Gage painting his fall leaf!

Our family night was at a local park. We had a chili cook-off and a kickball game. We had so many families come and it was such a success!

It was so nice to see families mingling together, getting to know each other better. All of our teachers and the principal came! The kids were so excited to see them all there.

We had a 50/50 raffle where half the pot went to WAAPO to pay for the family night, and half the pot went to the winner. Shaun made me buy $5 in tickets, even though I didn't want to. We had the winner of the chili cook-off pull the winning ticket. Of course, I was the winner. It was so embarrassing. But I won $30 which would pay for Miley's babysitter the next week for the jog-a-thon.

SATURDAY:

I woke up to an email from the principal, and it seriously made my day! She was so impressed with our family night. When they started family nights 6 years ago their goal was for families to come together in a relaxed environment and get to participate in an activity or event together to spread school spirit and cultivate community. She said our event was one of the most successful and best organized events ever at the school. How is that to start off you weekend?

Maisey still wasn't feeling well, and by Saturday morning had completely lost her voice. (She was spelling things with the alphabet blocks). She was still having a hard time breathing so I decided to take her to the doctor.

On our way home from the doctor we saw a clown on the side of the street. It was very random, but it made us both smile. Maisey had a virus that was affecting her airway, so she was given breathing treatments which helped a ton!

Sick, snugly girls!

9/21-9/27 - TGIF Moment and Soccer

MONDAY:

My morning started off extremely frustrating. There was some drama on our school parent board and I was pretty annoyed by it.

But, a lunch date with my two loves changed my mood pretty quickly!

We stopped at Home Depot after lunch to price out some supplies for our jog-a-thon. Shaun should be a leg model! :)

That evening, I got a babysitter so I could go to Costco, kidless. That's every mother's dream, right? Anyway, while I was gone Gage decided to stick his soccer medal between the outlet and the night light when it was plugged in. He blew the circuit (which cut the power to all 3 kids' bedrooms), and burned all three things involved in his little "experiment"! The babysitter felt terrible and was afraid I would never ask her to babysit again. I reassured her that it probably would have happened even if I was home!

TUESDAY:

My little cheese snitch!

She would have eaten the whole thing if I let her!

WEDNESDAY:

Yes, this email actually happened. It was super awkward to send. I talked to Maisey more about it later that night, and the situation was a lot worse than what she had originally told me (death threats were also involved). We met with her teacher and the principal the next day. The student received immediate consequences. Btw, it was the same student who told her last week that the Tooth Fairy and Santa aren't real. EEEK!!!

THURSDAY:

A lady in our ward passed away, which was super sad. But it was a bit creepy that after she passed away, Shaun received a friend request from her on Facebook.

We bought these Halloween cheetos and the kids loved making skeletons out of them! (No relation to the above picture. Haha!)

FRIDAY:

This was a major TGIF moment. I was emotionally drained from helping Maisey get through her school incident and having mild form of "the talk" with her. I was sooooo glad when Friday came around and apparently my excitement wore off on the kids. If it wasn't weird, I would have been dragging from his leg too, begging for him to stay home and let the weekend begin 8 hours earlier!

SATURDAY:

Coach Grimmett and his assistant, Coach Grimmett Jr.

The Tigers!

9/14-9/20 - Soccer and National Pirate Day

SUNDAY:

I was all excited because Maisey had her first loose tooth. She's been anxiously waiting for this day for two years. Unfortunately, some boy in her class told her that the tooth fairy (and Santa) wasn't real so we had a pretty dramatic night. I think it ended with her deciding to still believe. Kids can be so mean!

MONDAY:

One of the perks to going to the gym at 5 am is that you get an early start on your laundry. I had everything washed, dried, folded, and put away before the after school chaos began!

TUESDAY:

Apparently Tuesday didn't happen! Haha! Shaun and I went to the temple, but I don't have a pic.

WEDNESDAY:
Gage's first soccer practice!
Miley wanted to join in on the soccer action!

THURSDAY:

Apparently Thursday didn't happen either.

FRIDAY:

It was National Talk Like A Pirate Day. Luckily I bought each of them a pirate costume on clearance after Halloween last year for this year's costumes. We pulled them out and dressed them up. I have some pretty good looking pirates!

Then we drove 45 minutes to get 3 free dozens of doughnuts from Krispy Kreme. And on top of that we bought 4 extra doughnuts! The kids HAD to try a pirate one!

We met Dad at Clackamas Town Center for dinner and let the kids each choose a ride. Miley loves the carousel!

The big kids chose the ferris wheel and had a blast!

SATURDAY:

Gage had his first soccer game. He was bummed that he didn't score a goal, but he did really well!

Then we had some friends over for the BYU football game. Miley devoured her cupcake with blue sprinkles!

9/7-9/13 - Apple Orchard

SUNDAY:

Shaun could tell I was having a rough day so he cancelled his meetings after church and took over the kids all afternoon. He banished me to my room and entertained them and then had no-bakes waiting for me when I was allowed to come out!

MONDAY:

Sometimes I wish I had a live-in sister to help with fashion advice. Since I don't, I'll continue to take selfies in Maisey's mirror and text it to them.

This girl gets herself into more trouble by herself then when her siblings are home.

TUESDAY:

I put up some of the students' bird tessellation art projects. They did an amazing job!

WEDNESDAY:

"Peeeeease Mommy, Paint Nails, Peeeeease Peeeeeease!"
I hear this all day every day! At least she is polite about it!

After we paint, then she spends the next hour lining them up. She is obsessed with things being in a line. I should take a picture of all of the things that she lines up in our house! She's a funny girl!

Someone always leaves a light on in the van, and we always thought it was Gage, even though he would deny it. Then I caught her in the act! Haha!

THURSDAY:

When I told her it was time for her nap, she ran to Maisey's bed for "quiet time". Mean ol' Mom carried a screaming and flailing baby to her crib.

We went to some friends' house to watch the BYU game. We let the kids stay up super late on a school night, which they thought was pretty neat! Gage insisted on wearing his green shorts since the football field is green. It's funny to catch a glimpse into his mind.

FRIDAY:

Miley and I went to Grammy's school for lunch. After lunch I taught her class the same art project I did with my kids' school.

We invited some friends to pick apples with us! It was pretty amazing to get six kids to all look at me in just one take!

One cute girl and lots of apples!

SATURDAY:

Saturday morning was meet your coach day for soccer. Shaun is coaching Gage's team so the boys went there together while the girls went to our friend's football game.

Then we all met back up and went to the LDS Home Food Storage center because our Stake was hosting an open house! Maisey loved all of the samples.

Gage and Miley loved playing on the cart. Once I was ready to fill the cart with food storage items the kids got super bummed and sat in the car with Dad and watched a movie.
